No rest for the mummy
December 29th, 2006
As every mother of a young child knows, there is no such thing a s a day off. Even with all the help in the world, I am still trying to find that elusive, day off.
I began thinking about this this morning when I called in sick to work for the second night in a row due to a severly strained neck -you would think that two nights in a row would mean that I ...
“I want my Dida”
December 28th, 2006
The first thing that I should clarify in this post is that some time when she was young, Charley got the syllables of Daddy mixed up, and my husband will now forever be “Dida”.
Dida this. Dida that. It’s all about Dida. Never mind the fact that I endured seven seemingly long months of exhaustion, swollen ankles and a life-threatening dose of pre-eclampsia in order for her to live. No Mummy, I want my Dida.
I think ...
THE MAD MAD MUMMY IS BACK!
December 27th, 2006
Well I’m back! Where have you been, I hear you say? Blame the hosting company - damn you IX Web Hosting! After a request to transfer our ever so slow hosting from them to a better mob, they cut us off without notice and the Mad Mad Mummy disappeared into the oblivion. But thanks to the efforts of my fearless husband, I am back, and we even saved most of my ramblings!
And here we have ...
Oh sleeeeeeeep…
December 19th, 2006
Yet another night of very little sleep, Charley finally dropped off at 11, woke up at 2 and played etc until 5:30. She is still asleep. I, am not. Such is the joy of motherhood.
Someone tell me this is just a stage!
We wish you a busy Christmas
December 18th, 2006
If there is ever a time where I have felt like sawing myself in half or even in thirds it is this Christmas.
If work and mumspace and motherhood wasn’t enough, Mary gave birth and all of a sudden I have a thousand parties to attend (none of which are for me mind you) 1500 dinners to prepare, 70 000 presents to buy and even more to wrap.
But if it was just that, no sweat. The ...
Just go to sleep!
December 15th, 2006
Argh!! For goodness sake, why won’t this child just go to sleep?! Does she not feel the weight on her little eyelids like I do on mine?! She has been in her darkened room with her soothing lullabyes on and a lovely bottle of warmed milk for nearly an hour now, and still no nigh-nighs!
Before I decided that it was time for her nap, she was laying all over the floor, putting her head on ...
Change is as good as a holiday
December 14th, 2006
If you’ve visited this site before, you’ll notice that it looks a little different! It had a little bit of a makeover. This will be the default mumspace theme, but trust me, there are plenty of others to choose from!
So whaddaya think?
It’s all about … her
December 14th, 2006
When I fell pregnant I knew that becoming a mother would mean that I would have to give up a lot. What I didn’t realise was that it also meant that I would become invisible.
In the beginning, it was a little disconserting when I would walk into a room and people would automatically goo and gah over Charley, and then say hello to me as if it was an afterthought. It was almost as if ...
News on mumspace.net
December 12th, 2006
Just thought that I would give a little bit of an update on mumspace.net. We are hoping to launch the site Monday or Tuesday next week. So keep your eyes peeled and if there is any more news, I will keep you updated here.
Alternatively, if you like I would be happy to keep you updated by email and let you know personally when we launch - send me an email ...
Torture by car trip
December 12th, 2006
I don’t know about you, but my daughter Charley is an absolute nightmare in the car. Honestly, I don’t know how I get from A to B without colliding with C or D as most of the time I don’t think I am even looking at the road in front of me (I hope that my husband doesn’t read this or he might take the keys off me!).
The tanties start when trying to put her ...
