So what is a supermum?
February 23rd, 2007
So I’ve just sent out the first mumspace.net newsletter, which I agonised over and nearly had a heart attack before I sent. Everything looked perfect, but now I realise a little flaw. I have asked all the current members to put a post in their mumspace explaining why they are a supermum. But I didn’t explain what I think a supermum is!
To me, any mother who loves their child or children and does the best they can to do the best by their children is a supermum. Sometimes that means leaving the housework in order to spend more time with them, sometimes it means making sure the house is spick and span for them to play in. Sometimes that means putting them in childcare so you can pay the mortgage off the roof over their head, and sometimes it means that you do it a bit tough so you can spend more time with your kids. And sometimes it means taking some time out for you so that you can be a better mother.
So we are all supermums. Cause we all love our children and do our best. And sometimes we fail, I know I do most of the time. But that is what makes us real. That’s what makes being a mother the hardest job in the world.
So enough with the inspirational speech. Here is why I am a supermum.
I really like watching The Biggest Loser. Can’t get enough of it. But Charley wants to watch Monsters. And she wants me to sit with her instead of going into my room to watch the Biggest Loser. So I am sitting here with her, watching Monsters for the 500th time.
I am a supermum.

hi there,
Its very hard to be a mum let alone a supermum. You’ve done a great job here. You should be proud of yourself.
Nor
I love Monsters too, and TBL… you are supermummy!
Wow! Your definition of Supermum is very different to mine… I much prefer the term “Real Mum”, because I’m no supermum.
