Saving Baby

March 28th, 2007

There was a tragic story on the news the last night about how a learner driver clipped the gutter and ploughed into a group of pedestrians waiting at a bus stop. Unfortunately one young woman was killed and an 18-month-old toddler is fighting for his life.

However, another factor in this story got me thinking. Apparently, there was a 6-month-old in a pram among these pedestrians who were hit, and when his mother realised that they ...

Hospital, apartment, argh!!!

March 27th, 2007

When it rains it pours - how true!!

After a busy week was just starting to get everything under control, and then the rains came - no sorry, the pains came! On Sunday morning I was rushed to hospital with excruciating abdominal pain. It is Tuesday and I have just come home. And with no diagnosis. I have been poked, prodded, bruised, and not to mention had to deal with an older woman snoring like a ...

All night long

March 24th, 2007

I woke up this morning to the strangest feeling. I was a little hungry and really needed to go to the toilet. And then I realised what had happened.

I hadn’t gotten up to Charley all night. She had slept through. And what’s more, at 7:45am, was still asleep.

So because I hadn’t gotten up to her during the night, I hadn’t been to the toilet or picked at some fruit while waiting for her bottle to ...

Happy Birthday Mum

March 22nd, 2007

Charley has been watching a lot of Elmo’s birthday video, and has been loving making cakes out of playdough, so when she announced she was making me one, I wasn’t too fussed. Not even when I heard her rumaging around in the bathroom. And then she came out with this - happy birthday mum. :)

I’m still alive

March 22nd, 2007

Far out what a busy week! We are just about to release some new functionality for mumspace.net and I have been so flat out organising it all that I am just getting back here - naughty naughty mad mummy!! Here is what has been going on.

Needing sleep!

For the last week or so, I have been getting about 3 hours sleep. Charley has gotten back into the whole wake and want to play ...

My new bed buddy

March 17th, 2007

For the last week or so, every night at around 3am, I hear little footsteps coming down the hall toward my bedroom. They are familiar footsteps, so I lay and wait until I get a tap on my shoulder. I open my eyes a crack to see a bedsheveled little Charley, saying "cuddle?". Instinctively I pick her up and hold her tight while she lays in bed between Richie and I. And that is where ...

Men and housework

March 14th, 2007

Ah, have been doing a lot of reading today, and have just finished reading an article about men and housework on MotherInc and it actually got me thinking a little about my own husband and his attempts at housework.

Lately Rich has been really busy helping me build mumspace, so I have been picking up most of the housework stuff, which is fine, but the one thing I do have to say ...

To young too drive?

March 14th, 2007

They are turning on us - the toddlers that is.

Yesterday in Melbourne, a 30-something woman was hit by a car that her 18-month-old son was driving! Apparently he climbed in and somehow started the engine and somehoe got the car moving and somehow pinned his mother between the car and a brick wall, suffering a broken hip and pelvic injuries. You can read the full contents of the article here.

There you go ...

Autumn magic

March 14th, 2007

It’s a beautiul day in Sydney today - one of those days where the sun is shining and the sky is clear, but there is a crispness in the air that just makes being outside so pleasant. Makes it almost nice to leave the sweltering summer days behind, and try not to think about the frostiness that is to come.

Think I might just go for a lovely walk… :)

The dreaded harness

March 13th, 2007

I am not sure whether I have mentioned this already, but Charley’s refusal to sit in the pram or to hold my hand when we are at the shops has led me to purchasing a harness so that I am not house bound throughout the whole of the terrible twos.

Now BC, I hated the idea of a harness on a kid, and even during the first year vowed that I would never put one her. ...
