What a week!
October 26th, 2007
Been MIA a little this week - Charley got that virus that has been going around as all you mums would know, when the kids are sick, all else seems to be abandoned!
But this week was a doozy, particularly Monday and Tuesday. Charley started getting a bit feverish on Sunday night, but on Monday night it got so bad that she started hallucinating - badly. She was screaming that she had bees all over her biting her and seemed to be reacting to them biting her, so was thrashing about. Despite all our attempts to reduce her fever, the hallucinations continued for about an hour, so we took her to the hospital.
Her fever calmed down while we were there, and so did the hallucinations, but we figured we were there, so we may as well wait for the doctor. When she finally saw us an hour and a half later, Charley was happy and playful, despite it being 4:30am!! But the doctor was concerned, and so ordered some brain tests etc.
Another 5 hours later, a very tired mummy sat with a very tired Charley while they put a special hat on her that was connected to a thousand wires. I think the idea was that she would lay in mummy’s arms, have a bottle and go to sleep. Instead, Charley screamed her little lungs out for half an hour as I wrestled with her not to take the cap off.
Needless to say a couple of days later we have all come out unscathed. Charley’s brain is fine, and the hallucinations put down to the fever, which is also gone now.
Now… if I could just catch up on that sleep.
