How careful is careful?

November 12th, 2007

After my last pregnancy I always said that the second I fell pregnant again, I would be sitting doing nothing, to make sure the pre-eclampsia didn’t come back.

Now here I am, pregnant, and trying to work out ways that I can do that, but still earn a buck at the same time. I am still at the pub one night a week, but even this early, 6 hours on my feet in a nightclub is not the best atmosphere. I am trying to sort out some freelance subbing work, but don’t really want to have to trump into the city every day on trains etc cause I don’t want the stress. I have also stopped playing netball for fear of something happening.

Am I being too careful? For those who don’t know I had Charley at 29 weeks due to severe pre-eclampsia, and desperately don’t want that to happen again… Maybe I should just stop second guessing myself. :)

Yay & Congratulations! Is there any information out there on what triggers it? From experience you can just be trotting along nicely when boom, the wee’s and the blood pressure don’t add up and you’re of to hospital whether your bags are packed or not! (complete with unshaven legs!)
Pleased to report though I had it only with DS, and DD1 & 2 managed to arrive very early and very late respectively without pre-eclampsia being an issue! BTW, National Premature Birth Awareness Week is Nov 24-30 see www.bornearly.org.au

I think once you have a premmie you can never been too careful. I know i will have to slow down with my 2nd pregnancy and i know that it will just kill me as i am always on the go. I wish you all the best with your journey and do whatever you feel is right for you. I agree that you don’t want to stress yourself so do whatever you feel fits in with the pregnancy.
